Welcome to Mr. Machula's MHS Language Wiki! (updated 5/18/2012)

 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ARIZONA--Feb. 14, 1912, Feb. 14, 2012!

Here you can participate in a useful wiki for Mr. Machula's language classes. Depending upon the level of access permitted by Mr. Machula, you may also be able to upload significant material, maintain your own web page (relevant to my classes), and do other tasks that will be useful for your class participation. NOTICE: There are various panels on this FrontPage. The most important are: (1) This panel, (2) the Navigator Panel (to the right--really not much use), and the Sidebar Panel (links to other useful sites). It is simply best to ignore the links at the VERY TOP RIGHT of this page, as well as the Recent Activity Panel and the Comments Region at the bottom of this panel. If you follow these instructions you will be much better off in negotiating your way around the site.

My Email:

Please be aware that I will NOT accept ANY attachments to my email. The risks of viruses are just too monumental. You may send any assignments to me by COPYING your assignment from your word processor into the regular email text. Even Spanish, French and German diacritics can be successfully sent using this method.

You MUST send me email ONLY through the school official website noted below.

The Official MHS Website for Mr. Machula's classes:

The 'official' website for my MHS classes is actually at a different Internet address. That address gives you access to some useful functions not located here. It is also the only place where I will now accept emails.  (Simply click on 'My Official MHS Website' below, and you will find a 'Contact Me' link to the email communication area.)  This particular wiki (plikwiki) is basic for accessing other functions not so easily done at the 'official' site. I have created calendars for the entire year of 2011-2012, which are available at the class links indicated below. At this time there are calendars only for Spanish One and Spanish Two, not for Spanish Three, French Two, or Intro to German. Furthermore, on those class pages you will also find helpful links to the Essential Facts evaluations that I give each week. The Essential Facts for ALL my classes are available.

My "Official" MHS Language Website link is below (will open in another window):

Links to Subjects I Teach:

To go to the material (including updated calendars and Essential Facts evaluations) for the various classes you will need to click on the appropriate links below. There are no French One classes this year. Also, remember there is a calendar only for Spanish One and Spanish Two.

STUDENT GRADES :Notice--Students who have received their FLIDs, and after I receive permission from parents, can now view their grades online.

Student Grades for all my classes, using Foreign Language ID Nos. (FLID) for identification, will be available from my 'official' web site noted above or from this location on September 17, 2011. After receiving your FLID please click on this link: Student Grades to view grades listed in FLID order. Grades will be posted either weekly or every other week.  GRADES FOR SPRING SEMESTER 2012 ARE NOW BEING POSTED.

A BRAND NEW SECTION!

A brand new section of this wiki is being started today (October 21, 2011).  I am adding a weekly newsletter for all my classes.  There will be a newsletter posted each week.  However, I will not leave each newsletter on the site (that is, an archive of old newsletters).  I will ONLY post the current week's newsletter.  If students wish to keep an archive of the newsletter they will have to either store the page or print it out.  The newsletter has ALL my classes in one file.  Simply scroll down the page to find the desired subject (Spanish 1, Spanish 2, etc.).  You can find the link to the current newsletter just below:

TO SEND SPANISH/FRENCH/GERMAN EMAILS USING MICROSOFT WORD

You can send Spanish/French emails (text only, NOT attachments) by downloading a Word document from the Document Repository at this site. The document is titled qromanized2.doc. It will enable you to place diacritic marks in your docs. To acquire it, click on this link: Document Repository

NOTE: There is also now a document in the Document Repository titled germanized.doc that will give you the ability to do German diacritics also.

FUN STUDENT POWERPOINT PROJECTS (Operational as of 1/8/2011!)

NOTE: You must use Microsoft Internet Explorer to view these files.

The following link provides you a glimpse at some of the excellent work our MHS students do in Powerpoint presentations about Hispanic culture:

The following link will allow you to see class charts of the "Essential Facts" test results I give every week. I will NOT post them every week, but only when I have time to do so. (They will, however, will be posted in the classroom.) As a student, you will be able to compare your class to others who are taking the same course. Be aware that you MUST be using the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser to view these results.  (NOTE: As of August 26, 2011, I have begun posting the Essential Facts Charts. The red line indicates the actual data, and the dotted black line is the 'trend line' (linear regression) of the data.)
